Log Cabin ends the year

December 30, 2013

Fellow Cabiners,

We did it!

I am happy to say that each new year has found our chapter larger (13% larger this year!), more active and more effective than the prior one. 2013 was no exception.

The list of our achievements as we closed our chapter year in October was impressive. It showed what we are; steadfast, focused and committed. We do most things one at a time and often don’t recognize how, over time, they define our nature.

Think about it. The chapter and its members do things every month that add up to real accomplishments. Sometimes it’s our participation in various party activities as individuals, sometimes it’s what we do as a group in the LGBT community and sometimes it’s what you do as a representative of Log Cabin.

Each of us is a representative of both the Republican Party and Log Cabin.  Every time someone learns that you are part of Log Cabin, you are Log Cabin to that person. It’s said that we are known by the company we keep.  Can you think of better company than our members?

In a few weeks, we’ll begin our 2014 work.

It’s an important election year and we need to ensure that Log Cabin is a part of it. Stay tuned for opportunities to work in campaigns and support candidates. The most important current goal of our party is to break the hold of the majority in the California legislature. We began that process last summer when eight Cabiners walked for Andy Vidak. We continued it at our last meeting when we met with Catherine Baker. There will be Republican candidates in the Bay Area and beyond whom we will be able to help. Let’s make sure that Log Cabin does all it can.

You’ll be getting the usual flow of notices and updates about our meetings and other activities. You can always find them on our calendar ~

I do want to emphasize two in March.

On March 12, our chapter will be honored to host Chairman Brulte.  Let’s all be there and show him what a great group of solid Republicans we are.

A few days later, over the weekend of March 14-16, the California GOP Spring convention will be held in nearby Burlingame. You’ll be getting lots more info about the details. This convention will be one of the most important for Log Cabin in many years. In addition to the many topical sessions, there will be Log Cabin activities on Saturday culminating with our famous luau which is among the most popular California GOP convention events. Again, let’s all be there!

When I think about what the list of our 2014 achievements will be, I’m pumped! Think our reputation is high now? Imagine what it will be in twelve months thanks to you!

Those who know me know how sentimental I am. I can tear up faster than Speaker Boehner. Here’s some background as you ponder the passage of time and all you did this year ~

May your year be filled with love and success. Thank you for being part of Log Cabin.
